| I'll keep the home fires burning
You were God's perfect choice for me In my heart I know it's true. When I'm sad and feeling blue, I close my eyes and think of you. The day you left my heart did ache, It was so very hard to smile, As you held me close and said, "Only for a little while." Now for our country you train, The days are long as you toil, One day you will enact those skills, For our country on foreign soil. How proud I am of one so brave, But miss you oh so much. I long to feel your presence and, Feel your gentle touch. I will keep the home fires burning, Say a prayer for you each day. I'll try to be brave and strong for you, While you are gone away. I put you in our Father's hands, To watch over and protect. And in this I hope you see, The love that I reflect. |
