Roses are Red, My Love

A long, long time ago On graduation day  You handed me your book I signed this way:
"Roses are red, my love. Violets are blue.Sugar is sweet, my love. But not as sweet as you."
We dated through high school. And when the big day came, I wrote into your book, next to my name: "Roses are red, my love. Violets are blue. Sugar is sweet, my love. But not as sweet as you." Then I went far away And you found someone new
I read your letter dear And I wrote back to you: "Roses are red, my love. Violets are blue.
Sugar is sweet, my love. Good luck, may god bless you." Is that your little girl? She looks a lot like you. Someday some boy will write in her book, too. "Roses are red, my love. Violets are blue.
Sugar is sweet, my love. But not as sweet as you."

"Memories from the Past"

The long years have passed since our teenage years When we left our school days behind
But the nostalgic trip we took back home Brought memories and thoughts racing through our mind. It was a class reunion; a time to gather A time to remember those days of olden
To see once again our very best friends And to see how each life has unfolded.
I saw Janie, the cheerleader; Kay, the prom Queen Johnnie, the class clown and Tom, the football star Mary was there with her husband "Tall" Joe I can still see them riding in his old jalopy car. I watched as each entered the big crowded room Hoping against hope to see my old steady beau Then all of a sudden, I saw him walk in he looked just the same, or at least I thought so.
He walked over to me with his wife on his arm "I want you to meet an old friend of mine."
He introduced us both with a twinkle in his eye "She was the girl who made my eyes shine."
His wife smiled and said, "I've wanted to meet you. He's told me of all the fun things you did."
We laughed and we talked all through the night Of the memories we had when we were just kids.
The reunion was over and it was time to fly back I had lots of fun, but it was nice to be home
I still miss my old friends, and my old steady beau And I enjoyed the chance to let my memories roam.  Although those years are past and time has moved on I will always remember the words to this song:

"Roses are red, my love. Violets are blue.
Sugar is sweet, my love. But not as sweet as you."
